We have a strict safety protocol and all of our staff members are trained in emergency procedures. We have security cameras in the classrooms and a secure entrance.

Yes, we have a large outdoor play area and we incorporate outdoor play into our daily schedule.

We use positive reinforcement and redirection techniques to encourage good behavior. We also have a behavior management plan in place if necessary.

 We offer a diverse range of activities to inspire creativity, teamwork, and curiosity. Kids can enjoy arts & crafts, group games, Bible lessons, outdoor play, and hands-on science and STEM projects that encourage problem-solving. Our exciting weekly field trips provide opportunities to explore local attractions, museums, and nature centers. 

Yes, we provide breakfast and lunch through USD 501 Child Nutrition Services. Daily snacks are also included.

Caring for Kids 1st is sponsored by First Lutheran Church as an outreach ministry of the church. It is licensed by the Kansas State Department of Health and Environment and is administered by the Director and a Board of Directors made up of the pastor, 5 dedicated members of First Lutheran Church and a parent representative who either currently or has had a child(ren) in the program.

The purpose of our summer childcare is to provide a safe and secure environment. We offer a stimulating atmosphere in which children can grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically and spiritually through developmentally age-appropriate practices. We recognize that children learn through play, and we strive to create a climate that will encourage exploration, experimentation, and creativity. Special attention is given to fostering a positive self-concept in each child through creative and structured learning opportunities.

Caring For Kids 1st will be open from Tuesday, May 27, 2025 through Friday, August 8, 2025.  We are open Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 5:30 pm.  The only day during the summer we will be closed is Friday, July 4.

Caring For Kids 1st is licensed for 30 children.  All 30 slots will likely fill up quickly, so it's important to enroll early.

A deposit of $140 is required at the time of enrollment. This deposit will be applied to the last week of

the summer. If a child leaves the program prior to the last week, the deposit is not refundable.

Tuition is $140 per week for the first child and $120 per week for each child after the first for the Summer of 2025. 

Field trips and/or swimming are scheduled once per week. One of the benefits of our program is that children get to go on outings each week.  Caring For Kids has a 15-passenger van so children can be easily transported to and from their outings.
