Position Overview:

Are you looking for a summer job that truly makes a difference? Caring for Kids 1st is hiring Summer Group Leaders to help create a safe, engaging, and memorable summer experience for children in kindergarten through 5th grade.

As a Summer Group Leader, you’ll play an important role in supporting children throughout their day—providing supervision, encouragement, and care while helping them enjoy structured activities, play, and field trips. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, value teamwork, and want a meaningful, hands-on summer job.

Dates: 

May 26 – August 7, 2026 

• 54 days, M-F
• July 4 is a paid holiday. 
• Flexible end dates available for teachers/para-professionals.

Open Positions: $17/hour

• 8-hour daily position
• 6-hour daily position 

Key Responsibilities:

Summer Group Leaders are responsible for the daily care and supervision of children enrolled in the program. Responsibilities include:

• Supervising groups of up to 15 children in a safe and supportive environment
• Helping carry out pre-planned activities, games, and field trips designed by the Program Director
• Actively engaging with children through play, conversation, and encouragement
• Supporting positive behavior and helping children feel included and valued
• Working closely with the Director and fellow Group Leaders to ensure a smooth, organized day

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Minimum of 3 months’ experience working with children (school, childcare, camp, church, or similar setting)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
• Reliable, responsible, and enthusiastic about working with children

Program Overview:

Caring for Kids 1st is licensed to serve up to 30 K–5th grade students. The program is staffed by a dedicated team that includes:

• One full-time Director/Group Leader
• Two full-time (8-hour) Group Leaders
• One part-time (6-hour) Group Leader

Our goal is to provide a structured, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn and play each day.
